Student Hub - Institute of Technology Sligo

It is adjacent to a community playpark which has an astroturf attached so we made use of that. We had a site with a sea view with electricity and fresh water nearby. The best thing about the site is the very nearby 20 metres from front line of park pebble beach not safe for swimming and the 1 minute walk to the promenade area with a pub and cafes and ice cream shop. Plenty to do in area with kids; climbed Knocknarea and spent lots of time running up and down massive sand dunes further over the beach not within the protected fenced area obviously.

Strandhill is a lovely village with a busy holiday feel. A Gala shop within easy walking distance too.

We would definitely return to this site for the convenience to StrandHill. Kids were very happy here. Unit, 3 people and electricity cost 31 euros. Situated on the beach near Sligo. They also took a key deposit. Bit of a mishmash of a site, full of children and local holidaymakers at the weekend. Showers take 1 euro and are excellent. Shops are within walking distance and the bus into Sligo is nearby. An easy accessible location a few kilometres south of Sligo town and sitting on the sandunes area with access to the sea. Several surfing schools, pubs and restaurants in the small well kept village.

The caravan park is three star and quite haphazard. No pre booking, arrive and find a site to suit. Not much kept by mowing and keeping tidy the growing weeds. Toilet block reasonable but could do with a bit of refurbish and more attention to cleaning. No serviced sites. Water taps around area but waste water disposal not great, drag to a disposal grating. No children's play area attached to site. May be privately owned thus the lack of amenities but it is ok for a few nights as a transient stay. Thankfully most modern caravans can cope very well if water and electricity is available.

Electricity supply is around 9 amps so do be careful not to overload the system.
