A fabulous old fireplace is a definite highlight and loved the storytelling night around the fire. We went hiking by Mahon Falls well worth a visit and only 30 mins from dungarvan. Town was beautifully lit up for Christmas. Firstly our accommodation was excellent, beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean, everything you could possible need or want on your stay, our host Yvonne was fantastic, so helpful and friendly, a lovely lady.

We will be back. Dongarvan has so much to offer, you are beside the green way for those who cycle or walk, mahon falls is no distance away. There are so many beaches on the cost road, swimming, surfing, the scenery is breathtaking. The town itself has lots of shops and no shortage of lovely cafes and good restaurants. Would recommend going down to the harbour, lovely for a stroll, good restaurants, sit out and have a coffee and watch the boats also walk around the castle.

Am going to Dungarvan for 20 yrs and love it and have the perfect place to stay.

Attractions

Very pretty town, with a huge variety of restaurants and bars. Due to Covid most of the old style bars were closed, as is sadly the case nationwide. Many of them looked really full of character, and ideal, I would imagine, for experiencing traditional Irish "Ceoil agus Craic". As I arrived via the Greenway, I would say however that it came as a bit of a shock to see the amount of cars in town, with very little facilities for cyclists no cycle lanes, very few bike racks, no cycle related signage etc.

The town council have some work to do to make things more cycle friendly, however I believe that adapting to the Greenway will take time, and hopefully this will be prioritised. Greenway cyclists shouldn't have to fear for their life upon arrival, because they have entered the kingdom of the motorcar. I hadn't visited Dungarvan in years, it still holds it's character and friendly locals.

Important to book a restaurant, we went to cookhouse and it was superb, very good food, reasonable and lovely staff. We cycled the Greenway, well 46km to Kilmacthomas and back which was a decent cycle for us on locally rented bikes which is a must, would like to return without kids and do the full greenway, I believe there is more to see between Waterford and Kilmacthomas. A beautiful town with lovely shops,people very friendly lots of beautiful places for eating out and drinking. The harbour is very scenic and nice to walk along.
